Description

St John’s Chapel, a small Durham dales town, is surrounded by the unspoilt countryside of the North Pennines National Landscape. Originally St John's chapel was a medieval hunting stop for the Prince Bishops of Durham, it then grew as a centre of lead mining after 1600. Our walks can take in parts of the Weardale Way, or The Pennine Way or the open fell on Chapel fell Top.
