Description

Bamburgh is a scenic coastal village in Northumberland, England, famous for its massive medieval fortress, sweeping golden beaches, and rich Anglo-Saxon history. Once known as Bebbanburg, it was the royal capital of the ancient Anglo-Saxon kingdom of Northumbria. Victorian industrialist William Armstrong restored the castle in 1894, and it remains owned by the Armstrong family today. A walk along the coast takes us through the village of Craster, past the splendid ruins of Dunstanburgh, and along magnificent beaches.
